1 Package Weiner’s ( Your choice, Brats work too, but cost more than weiners)
7 Russet Potatoes Peeled and Boiled
3 Tbsp. Butter or Margarine
1 C Milk ( whole, skim, 2%, dried or evaporated milk diluted)
Optional: 1 C Cheddar Cheese
Salt and pepper to taste
Peel and cut up the potatoes putting them on to boil, until fork tender. When tender remove from heat and drain potatoes and add the milk and butter and whip until desired consistency. Spread a small portion of potatoes on bottom of 8×13 pan. Cut wieners lengthwise in half placing them evenly spaced on top of the thin layer of potatoes in the pan. Then cover with the remainder of potatoes. Bake for 35 minutes at 375 degrees. The last five minutes you can add the Cup of cheddar cheese (or any cheese you desire) but this is optional. Then serve warm.
Sides suggestions : Green Beans, corn, French bread.
Drink suggestions: Iced Tea (sweet or unsweet)
This is a very frugal meal. And very yummy. My mother used to make this for us 7 children and we loved it. After I got married , my husband loved it. He still does.
