Ladies,Our Feelings Fail. Trust Scripture

11Women must likewise be dignified, not malicious gossips, but temperate, faithful in all things.-1 Timothy 3:11

As women of the Book, we love the Word because we know that it is God breathed, inerrant, and infallible, that the Word is how we hear from the One True God. There will be discussions among women, and in the past, I was a part of them, that would use terms as “God told me” “I feel God wants me to” or “God led me”. While all of these terms could and sometimes are associated with or referring to what God’s Word actually says, too many times it refers to feelings or a type of mysticism that has no part in our faith. We should never be controlled by our feelings. And we all know we let our emotions control us at times, and we must repent for the foolishness spoken that can’t be taken back.

Feelings are wonderful, God made us with feelings to enjoy and experience our lives to his glory. But we should remember that some of our feelings are sinful and should not be celebrated but controlled. One of these would be giving prophecy that is outside of scripture. A good example would be Beth Moore and her very silly “conversations” with God. In most of them, she has chosen to give God an actual audible voice back to her, and this is pure foolishness. We are equipped with the Holy Scripture, why in the world would we need Moore to add to that with her fake conversations with God? We don’t. But Moore seems to prey on young women, women in the faith that would look for wise counsel from an older woman. Trying to navigate their way in the faith, needing a trusted woman to teach them as Titus 2 instructs, but instead gets immature musings at best and heretical teaching at worst.

These extra biblical musings that Moore recites on her blog and twitter, they are hurting women and not helping them. It is so sad to hear and watch her seemingly enjoy her controversies and attention with no regard to the example she is setting before other women. This is not love for the brethren , this is feeding her pride.

It is just shameful that this woman is carrying on this way.

Moore is a very good example of why our feelings are not to be willy nilly let loose without constraint. She also proves why God has not called women to preach to men. Our feelings at times control us. Whether it be hormonal or just our deceitful hearts, we are, from the fall, more prone to trust our feelings. And at times, that can be sinful. That is why I truly believe no Ladies Bible study should be conducted solely at a women’s discretion. An elder or deacon should oversee these activities of teaching God’s Word.

Moore and many false teaching women are talking foolishness all over this country. And weak women are listening. Some are listening because they know and rebel against what God has said. But other women are listening because they are deceived, as I once was. We need to be kind and patient, but we need to be loving and bring them the truth. Letting those we love to continue in deception without attempting to rescue them isn’t love at all. It only shows love for us because we don’t want to deal with something, we know will be uncomfortable.

Ok ladies, truth time. The world is wicked, and we have enemies within the church trying their best to destroy the church. There is not time to make peace with this evil. They must be dealt with and in doing so, we will be hated. Yes, hated just as Christ said we would. But fear not, He is with us. We must always stand on truth and not our feelings. Remember the enemies of Christ will conspire together. They will claim they are “more loving”, and their brand of Christianity will be accepted by the world. These pretenders will hold our clothes while they stone us. I would love to say that is just a metaphor, but it’s getting pretty hostile out there.

Be bold and speak the truth in love and let the stones fall where they may. We are called to be women of the Book. And that does not mean a comfortable, quiet Christianity anymore, it means we must take the Light of the Gospel inside the Church and defend what God has said. Even to the enemies within. They will either repent or they will flee. But we must never tolerate false teaching.

What provokes us to this is the great Love of God. His love for us on a Cross enduring punishment that we deserved. As once, lost sinners that mocked our Savior, we now stand redeemed and provoked to proclaim His Gospel of Peace. His Gospel reconciles sinners to himself. Praise be to God!!

Things to think about

  1. We are weak, our strength is found in Christ.
  2. Times are becoming defining. The world seeks approval in its wicked deeds.
  3. The Word is our weapon. We don’t fight flesh and blood.
  4. We will see more and more of these false pretenders that seek the approval of man rather than God. Stand.

1But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. 2For men will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, 4treacherous, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5holding to a form of godliness, although they have denied its power; Avoid such men as these.

2 Timothy 3:1-5
